Why I Started Alchemize Pilates

And why everything I believed about fitness had to change first.

For years, I measured my workouts by how destroyed I felt afterward. More sweat. More reps. More soreness the next morning. That was the signal that I was doing something right. Or so I thought.

I tried everything. HIIT classes that left me shaking. Weight rooms that left me injured. Bootcamps that treated exhaustion like a badge of honor. And I was good at all of it. I could push through anything.

But pushing through was the problem.

The moment everything shifted

I walked into my first reformer Pilates session expecting another sweat fest. What I got was something completely different. The instructor told me to slow down. To feel the resistance. To control the movement instead of fighting it.

I hated it. I was terrible at going slow.

But something happened over the next few weeks that I had never experienced in years of high-intensity training. My body started changing in ways that felt structural, not just surface-level. My posture shifted. My core felt connected. The chronic lower back pain I had accepted as normal quietly disappeared.

And my mind changed too. The discipline of slowing down, of controlling every inch of a movement, started carrying into the rest of my life. I was more patient. More intentional. More grounded.

I realized I had spent years breaking my body down and calling it strength. Real strength was something entirely different.

Why Alchemize exists

I started Alchemize Pilates because I could not find what I was looking for anywhere else. I wanted a studio that was serious about results but did not confuse intensity with effectiveness. A place that felt strong, not soft. Disciplined, not punishing.

The name “Alchemize” means to transform through a seemingly magical process. That is what reformer Pilates did for me. It took everything I thought I knew about fitness and transformed it into something that actually worked, long-term, for my body and my mind.

This studio is for people who are done chasing burnout. Who want to feel powerful, not depleted. Who understand that the hardest workout is not always the best one, but the most intentional one is.

What you will find here

At Alchemize, every class is built around three principles:

Strength. We build real, functional strength through progressive resistance on the reformer. Not the kind that looks good for a week. The kind that changes how you move through life.

Control. Every movement is deliberate. We do not rush through reps to hit a number. We slow down, connect to the muscle, and make every second count.

Discipline. Showing up consistently and moving with intention is the practice. The results are the byproduct.

Whether you have never touched a reformer or you have been practicing for years, there is a place for you here. Our Foundations class (read my complete beginner’s guide to reformer Pilates in Utah) is designed for complete beginners, and our Sculpt and Burn classes will challenge even the most experienced movers.

This is just the beginning

Alchemize is more than a studio. It is a community of people who have decided that they deserve better from their fitness practice. People who want to be built up, not broken down.

If that sounds like you, I would love to see you in the studio. Book your first class and experience what intentional movement feels like.

See you on the reformer.
