What Your First Class Involves

  • A full reformer class — springs, straps, footwork and all. Not a watered-down demo.
  • A pre-class orientation — I walk you through the reformer, the spring system and the safety points before we start.
  • Small-group instruction — few enough people that I can see and correct what your body is doing.
  • Time to ask questions — injuries, goals, nerves. All of it.

The booking page has the current schedule and rates. If you’re not sure which session suits a first-timer, message me and I’ll pick one with you.

Who This Suits in the South Valley

People drive in from Draper, Sandy, Riverton, Herriman and down through Lehi, and they tend to arrive with one of a few stories:

  • Complete beginners who’ve never touched a reformer and want a low-stakes way to try one.
  • Desk workers along the 90th South corridor whose hips have tightened and whose glutes have gone quiet.
  • Hikers, skiers and runners wanting cross-training that protects joints rather than grinding them.
  • People rebuilding after injury, surgery or birth, cleared by their provider for controlled movement.

What Your First Time Actually Feels Like

Unfamiliar for about ten minutes, then absorbing. The carriage moves, which is the part people brace against at first — and learning not to brace is most of the early work. Expect to feel your deep abdominals in a place you didn’t know existed, and expect to feel taller walking out. Almost everyone mentions that.

You may be sore in unfamiliar places for a day or two the first few times, because reformer work loads muscles eccentrically. That settles quickly.

Give it more than one session before you judge it. One class teaches you the machine; it’s around the third that your body starts to understand what it’s doing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a first reformer Pilates class in Draper involve?

A full 50-minute small-group reformer class, plus an orientation to the machine beforehand so you know what the springs, footbar and straps do. You’ll be shown modifications throughout, and I set the springs with you rather than leaving you to guess.

Do I need any experience before my first reformer Pilates class?

No. Beginners are the majority of who I teach. Every class includes setup instruction and scaled options, and there’s no flexibility prerequisite.

What should I wear and bring to my first class?

Form-fitting leggings or shorts, a top that won’t fall over your face during footwork, grip socks, and water.

Is reformer Pilates safe if I have back pain or a prior injury?

Usually, and often it’s the point — controlled, scalable loading is one of the better-evidenced approaches for chronic low back pain. Tell me what’s going on before we start, and get clearance from your provider if it’s recent or post-surgical. With an injury history I’d generally suggest starting one-on-one so I can watch how you move without a room full of variables.

How do I book my first class?

You can book directly through the booking page, which has the current schedule and rates — or get in touch and I’ll help you choose a session.

If you’ve been wondering for a while, stop wondering and come move. Book a class and I’ll take it from there.
